Lower Dolpo Trek – 17 Days

A Trekker's Paradise
Duration: 17 Days
People: 10
Description

The Lower Dolpo Trek is one of Nepal’s most remote and untouched trekking adventures, located in the isolated region of Dolpo in western Nepal. This camping-style trek lasts 17 days and reaches a maximum altitude of 5,190 meters at Numa La Pass, making it a challenging journey suited for experienced and physically fit trekkers. Being a restricted area, a special permit is required to enter. The trek takes you through dramatic high-altitude landscapes, traditional Tibetan-influenced villages, and areas rich in ancient Bon-Buddhist culture, offering a rare opportunity to experience a side of Nepal that remains unchanged by time and modern tourism. The major highlight of this trek is the breathtaking Shey Phoksundo Lake, a crystal-clear turquoise lake surrounded by steep rugged cliffs and snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Along the way, trekkers cross two high mountain passes — Numa La (5,190 m) and Bagala La (5,170 m) — which reward you with unforgettable panoramic mountain views. The Lower Dolpo Trek is best undertaken in April–June and September–November and is ideal for adventurers seeking a true wilderness experience, far from the crowded trekking routes of Nepal.
