Overview

A journey through the Himalayas

A short Himalayan trek to Gosaikunda (4,380 m), a group of sacred lakes visited by Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. You cross the Laurebina La and walk through Helambu’s Sherpa and Tamang villages with no flights needed.

Drive to Dhunche and climb through forest to Sing Gompa and Gosaikunda. Cross the Laurebina La (4,610 m) to Ghopte and Tharepati, then descend the Helambu ridge via Kutumsang and Chisapani to Sundarijal, on the edge of Kathmandu.

Trekkers with 9–10 days who want a high lake and a pass without Everest-level altitude. Walking days are 4–7 hours. Fit beginners can do it.

Why book with us: Licensed local guide who speaks English or Spanish, daily oximeter checks above 3,500 m, and road transport only, so no flight delays.

Difficulty & fitness Moderate

5 to 7 hours a day with some steep sections. Suits active beginners.

Questions

Before you go

Yes. We can add Langtang Valley and Kyanjin Gompa first, then cross to Gosaikunda; it takes about 15–16 days in total.
Hindus believe Shiva created the lake. Thousands of pilgrims walk here for the Janai Purnima festival, usually in August.
Nights at 4,380 m drop below freezing even in autumn, and the lake can freeze from December to March. Bring a warm sleeping bag; we can lend one.
It is a steady climb with no technical sections. The descent to Ghopte is rocky and slow, and fog is common after midday, so we start early.
