Langtang is the closest high-mountain region to Kathmandu, reached by road with no domestic flight. The valley climbs through forest full of red pandas and langur monkeys to yak pastures and the cheese factory at Kyanjin Gompa.
Tamang culture, close to Tibetan, is everywhere: prayer walls, monasteries and homestays. The best months are March to May and October to November.
It suits trekkers with 10–12 days, first-timers wanting real altitude without the Lukla flight, and anyone who prefers quieter trails.
