Overview

A journey through the Himalayas

Island Peak (Imja Tse, 6,189 m) is the most popular trekking peak in Nepal and the natural next step after Everest Base Camp. This trip combines both: you acclimatise properly on the EBC trail and Kala Patthar, then turn into the Chhukung valley for the climb.

Summit day starts around 1 am from base camp. You scramble up a rocky ridge, rope up on the glacier, cross crevasses on ladders and climb a steep fixed-rope headwall to a narrow summit ridge with Lhotse's south face towering above.

You need good fitness and previous trekking above 4,000 m, but no technical climbing experience: we run a training day at base camp on crampons, jumar and abseiling.

Why book with us: a climbing guide-to-client ratio of 1:2 on summit day, a reserve day for weather and a pace built around acclimatisation.

Difficulty & fitness Strenuous

Remote, very high terrain. For fit and experienced trekkers.
